About ASDS

Biographical Information

I am 56 years old, have been married for 32 years, and have two grown children. My wife and I have resided in Vassalboro for the last 21 years. I graduated from Stonehill College in 1973 with a BA in English and Secondary Education. I have recently served as the Vice Chairman and Director on the Board of Winslow Federal Credit Union. I've also spent a number of years as the Assistant Varsity Softball Coach at Winslow H.S.

I left a 23 year career with Central Maine Power in April of 2003. In the summer of 2003 I attended the University of Southern Maine to pick up courses and credits to be certified at the highest level with the State of Maine as a driving instructor.

Mr. Ray Weed was the instructor for my courses through USM. He is also a past President of MEDEA, the Maine Driver Education Association. Mr. Weed is available to contact as a reference as to my character and teaching ability.

Thoughts About Driving

Hearing about car crashes is personally upsetting since almost all auto accidents are preventable. Far too many inexperienced drivers are getting into serious accidents, some even dying in their first year or so of driving. We haven't done a good enough job.

I do not look to save the world from needless grief but I do hope to "reach" each of my students in a way that gives them lasting reason to be more courteous on the road, to be better citizens by not putting themselves and others at risk, and to be more patient when road rage might otherwise take over.

We also need to realize that our busy schedules often bring us out onto road surfaces that are less than ideal. Maine winters can certainly challenge the very best drivers at times. Therefore we need to have the skills to move about safely even in adverse conditions. I believe there is no better time to acquire driving skills than when conditions are difficult.

Drivers need the skills to deal with the unexpected and to live to tell about it.

"Road Safety in All Seasons, Skills for a Lifetime" are not just words to me. They are the fundamental goals that guide All Seasons Driving School.
