ASDS Polices

Dear Student & Parent,

Thank you for choosing All Seasons Driving School to meet your driver education needs. New classes are offered 6 - 7 times annually. Pre-registration is required. The course includes 30 hours of classroom instruction and 10 hours of behind the wheel instruction. The course fee also covers the cost of the Maine Motorist Handbook, course completion certificate, and Driver's Permit to be issued at the successful completion of the course. A Responsible Driving textbook will be issued to each student and must be returned in "as issued" condition.

Reservation of a place in class is secured by a non-refundable deposit of $100.00 along with the completed student application. A student may be moved up to an earlier class by mutual consent without penalty. If a student chooses to move to a class scheduled later in the year there will be a $25.00 transfer fee.

Payments: The course fee is $440.00. A deposit of $100 is due with the registration. The balance of $340.00 is due by the last day of classes or the final exam will not be given. Payment arrangements are available.

Refunds will be made based on classroom and road instruction time completed.

Expectations/Requirements- *A state mandated written test will be given on the final day of class. A grade of 80% or better is required to meet the minimum standards required by law. If you are unable to pass the test you will be offered the opportunity to retake the test at a later date.

*You must attend each class to complete the program. If you are absent the exact class (chapters covered and materials& tests for that night) must be made up within 60 days from the day of absence and a fee of $10.00 is assessed when the make up is done in a future course offering.

*Students should be dressed in clean and appropriate clothes for school. Use discretion and common sense, please.

Parental Involvement

Since 1998 parental involvement has been required by Maine law and the Secretary of State for driver's education students under the age of 18. At All Seasons Driving School the requirement is met by having a parent or legal guardian spend a minimum of 30 minutes in the car during instruction with both the student and instructor. There will not be a final exam or Driver's Permit issued if this requirement is not met. Also, parent(s) are required to attend and observe the last classroom session held with the students. Unless these requirements can and will be met, please do not register for class. See me for extenuating circumstances.

Behavior

Students are expected to be on time for class and for behind the wheel instruction. No smoking is allowed before, during, or after class on the school premises or in any ASDS car. Any observed infraction of this policy will result in a call to the parents. A second infraction will bring dismissal from the program without a refund. Any student being disruptive will be asked to leave that session immediately. A satisfactory parental conference will be required for the student to be reinstated into the course. All Seasons Driving School reserves the right to refuse driving instructions to any student that is, or appears to be, in the instructors opinion, unfit to drive on any particular day.

Scheduling driving time- 10 Hours required-One on one instruction

*No more than 2 hrs a day will be scheduled for any one student.
*Scheduling will be at mutually convenient and available times for both student and instructor.
*Canceling a driving lesson without 24 hrs notice will result in a charge of $15/hr for each hour that is missed.
*Due to classmates also scheduled to drive it is imperative for everyone to be prompt.
